Mea Culpa - my fault (in latin)

Details: [link]

First, I most say, I am very honored to be able to work with such a stunning model shot. The image itself was so good that I felt like to bring something else to it.. it will be hard work but I am so happy with the result and feeling proud of the image.

And please, without the model, there wouldn't be that work, so please, go and fav her version too: [link]

The first time I saw the image, in some way, it reminded me.. or somehow it connected to me with Coup D'etat what is one of my favorites works. So I had idea going quite on the same direction - playing with light and shadows, having those soft red and warm yellow, orange colors. And the idea I had at the first.. it is so far from what came out but hey, I am very proud.

The fun thing with this image was, that even if I spent tens of hours on it, I realized it has not too many stock, even if I was feeling - hey, this is one of those complex images that really eats my hours.. But it managed to eat the hours with trying to get the lights and shadows correct, working on those little details on the dress and working with hair. It was fun.. A lot of hours. It has probably 125 or so layers.. and most of them are color corrections or light or shadows.. It is just incredible what you can get with some colors and then some soft light.. and different colors, different details..

The story.. as there is always one :) When you look at the details, you probably can see the tear.. it's only one tear, little and almost invisible but even the strongest of us sometimes fell down.. even the strongest of us have a moment when they feel they cannot take it anymore. And I think by just looking at her you can see how strong she is.. what she has needed to do for her people.. (in my mind she is some kind of ruler..) I think the story is that she was the oldest of her brothers and sisters but by law the throne would go to oldest son who, in this case, was everything than able ruler. And so she decided to stand out for her right and demand that she would be the heir as she has all the ambition, support and skill and commitment to bring some peace and prospect to her country. But those man in power did not listened her.. or if they did, they did nothing.. and in the end, it all ended in blood - everyone working on their fraction, trying to kill the old king and gain the power.. and even if they had the same blood - she and her brothers/sisters.. they all took blades and used them against each other.. no love nor blood ties left.. only anger, only wish to get the power.. and one wish can be powerful thing and can lead you to many deads you would not do in any other circumstances.. By any mean necessary.. what kind of acts can be hidden behind that one sentence and what kind of things can be turned into right with that explanation.. If I would not do that, someone else would.. If I would not fight with my siblings would kill me.. No mercy, no regret.. That was her moto..

And in the end.. after months of bloodshed and civil war.. as some of royalty went with what is law - following and standing with oldest son.. and others, who saw trough traditions, decided to take their changes with her.. princess in red.. fire on her eyes reflecting the flame inside her.. And who won? Who got the power? Does it matter even in the end after all those causalities, all those victims of circumstances, after tens of assassinations and silent whispers.. Does nothing matters at all? And does the tear she cries matter? It won't save her conscious and it won't bring peace to the country she has turn
apart.. Country, she says she loves more than anything else.. And country she would do anything.. Does that anything also involved turn it upside down and make sure noone can feel safe anymore? Yes, it is her fault.. and history will remember it like that.. but that's the way history works.. they will remember that she was the reason behind the bloodshed but I am sure, the history will also remember her as a great queen and great ruler, committed and fair.. if she ever gets to that throne..

Mea Culpa by *Iardacil is a powerful artwork...so feeling alive. It seems so strong and yet so soft at the same time. I have always admired the magic people can do with photomanipulations but this piece just blew my mind - it looks more like painting, photo or reality than something you can make of photos (Suggested by ~lanternonthedark and Featured by ^archanN)
