Why? As I saw the title of the contest, I couldn't resist. The idea and the meaning those two word on the title represent. It is her realm - her own swamp - abandoned, forsaken, lost but still her swamp. There is nothing living but her, she is sitting on that well like she is the ruler of that mystical and secret place. And why it is tragic - I think her look, her mood, the surroundings - it is God forsaken place in the middle of nowhere and what ever made her leave the world and go there and leave all previous behind was just too sad, too big and too painful for her to say. In so many ways I feel like the same now - being in the country, quite in the middle of nowhere, in my own little forest, not many people around and I feel contempt because I escaped - there is noone to remind me my tragic, my pain and sorrow but even in the forest where wind plays me solemn melody and sun caress my face, the pain deep in me reminds itself and never lets me forget nor go back. So can she never leave her well and all she can do is make a wish beneath the mourning star and hope... maybe there is someone.. something to live for and she won't have the fate of the previous dreamer.

The title.. I usually have some "name" I call the work but I change it later when it is ready and I have the full vision in real. This time, I just had time in work and browse trough stock, got things I liked, made a sketch and from that moment it was called like "Wishwell" and it stayed.. I just didn't find any better way... Drop something in the well or sit there and make a wish and hope it comes to real. Yes, this piece is also about hope as we can never give it up!

I have no idea how many layers as some where named, as some where duplicated, some where merged and I worked in two files as in the background one.. it just get so so slow... But I can say - over 400 defenetly. (I would almost think it got over 500 with the candles but no way to count.. both files had over 200 layers and I merged in the middle too)

How many hours? Little less than a week work every day. i have to share the laptop with my little sister who fell love of drawing in photoshop (damn ) and demanded time for her. One day got waist as I was working on the body position and the upper part of the elf but it just didn't look normal. When my sisters came and saw, they said it is crap and I could do better - so I started again, in different angle and different stock and it worked.

This work has look so much different in the beginning. I changed the stock a quite. First I did not plan to drawn a elf there.. I just had the idea - done. I did not have the idea of more rock but it looked weird without. The stock from bloodymarie-stock was first different but as she uploaded new shots, they were just perfect. The corset changed. Many things. Fan was almost the last I added because I just felt, there have to be something.

And many many thanks for and , my lovely sisters for all the support, help, advice and time they gave me behind the laptop This is for you, girls I just love you both and I already miss you (mm.. 4 hours from time I got to the train)

You are my world, all I have left and I know, you will be here if I need. And I think I have never thank you both enough for the support and help you give me. Liisa, without your critic, so many things would be still wrong and Mari, without you.. I wouldn't have perfect body position nor drawn elf
